First, we discuss your vision and advise you as we refine the plan together.
Is it a coupe, convertible, wagon, limo, pick up, sedan, what do you like? Is it American, Japanese, German, French, British? What speaks to you?
Is it from the 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s or 70’s? What calls out to you?
Shall it be gasoline powered, or maybe diesel, perhaps electric? What moves you?
Next, we either select the right vehicle from our hoard, transport the client provided vehicle, or sic our hunters on the mission to track down the right car.
Once the car is sourced and at our facility, we write a more detailed outline of the project. Once we all agree on the general plan and targets, next step is design and engineering.
Generally, we laser scan the car body once liberated from the frame, so that we have a precise CAD model of the form. Then our mechanical engineers and fabricators work with our chassis partner (almost exclusively Art Morrison Enterprises) to design the main chassis, integrated with the power train.
Next we move on to any re-designed details, and engineering related to integration of modern functions such as audio, power windows, navigation and other corruptions of the modern age.
By this time, we start discussing and sharing samples of materials, powder coat finishes and the like. During this phase we are ordering, crafting and collecting all of the known components needed for the build, big and small.
When focusing on these elements more intensely in the first phases of the project, by the time we set our team loose on the car, we have a clear vision and plan established, allowing for the most effective labor process, and greatest continuity of design elements.
Once the project is completed, we personally test drive the car 1000-2000 miles in a variety of environments before we sign off and are ready to deliver your vehicle to you.
In the final step of the process, you hopefully enjoy your ICON Derelict for decades, until it becomes a heirloom, cherished forever.
