We call this concept The Helios. Helios is the Greek God of the sun. This mythical Titan drove his chariot in the sky each day. This concept evolved from the fact that I am fascinated about revisiting history in our own way. To me, the most interesting way to do this is by celebrating a particular era of design. More interesting still, is when we start to think about what could have happened, had history gone a different route. This revisionist approach to transportation design opens us up to all sorts of theoreticals… The exceptionally talented Alberto Hernandez realized these magnificent sketches for us.
We started with this series of questions. What if Streamline Moderne design language had continued to florish and develop, instead of being cut short due to WWII and mass production priorities? What if Gordon Buehrig and Buckminster Fuller (two masters of such designs) had sat down with Howard Hughes and drank too many martinis, and pencil sketched a new ride for Howard to roll through Beverly Hills in?
More detailed thoughts on packaging. Here you see our thoughts as we move into the interior and dash area. I like the idea of keeping with the aircraft style where everything has purpose and function, and is left exposed.
